Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission

WCS saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature.

The greatest threats to wildlife in Mongolia include poorly planned and unregulated development, illegal killing, and climate change. In alignment with our dedication to science-based conservation and long-term commitment to landscapes, our goals are to work with government, communities, and the private sector to maintain biodiversity, ensure landscape connectivity, and contribute to the sustainable management of resources. When combined, these goals will lead to resilient ecosystems in Mongolia that support thriving populations of wildlife and contribute to the well-being of local communities.

Our Vision

Our vision for Mongolia is to maintain and restore the ecological integrity for the well-being of both wildlife and people.

We envision Asia’s last wildlife migration spectacle, with over one million Mongolian gazelle, thriving across the world’s largest intact temperate grassland. Alongside them, a full assemblage of Asiatic wild ass (khulan), goitered gazelle, saiga antelope, snow leopard, gray wolf, Siberian marmot, white-naped crane, saker falcon, houbara bustard, and other wildlife species, sustained by a network of well-managed national parks and communal lands.
