Job Summary: The Natural Resources Law Enforcement Program Manager engages in and oversees staff to implement projects associated with supporting law enforcement agencies in their ability to reduce illegal hunting and collection of wildlife and plants, and address their illegal trade in particular illicit international trafficking. Travel to work in other districts and provinces as required which may at times be at short notice and/or for extended periods.
Responsibilities of main tasks:
• Manage the WCS Mongolia Natural Resources Law Enforcement Program
• Support the development of and delivery of trainings and related materials;
• Coordinate, manage, and report on natural resources law enforcement related projects to ensure effective completion of projects on time and within the budget;
• Prepare Donor required reports and submit on schedule;
• Effectively manage and communicate with team members;
• Provide input into the development of high-quality projects and activities;
• Coordinate between WCS and stakeholders to promote effective enforcement of Mongolia's environmental laws;
• Represent WCS at international and national level and attend working group meetings as required;
• Promote the sustainable use of natural resources guided by scientific and best practice management approaches;
Other
a. Maintaining collaborations with International and national NGO’s, Governments and Academic Institutions;
b. Representing WCS mission and vision and provide support to other WCS colleagues and projects when required.
C. Working with colleagues in the preparation and submission of peer-review publications;
Minimum Requirements:
• Law Diploma or MSc. in natural resources management;
• 6 years’ professional experience, preferably with demonstrated management skills;
• Working knowledge of Mongolian environment laws and regulations;
• Functional understanding of Mongolian legal institutions;
• Functional knowledge of natural resources law enforcement tools and mechanisms for implementation; • Ability to work in a team setting;
• Willingness to travel;
• Mongolian and English speaking and writing skills;
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs, and presentation software.
