Call for Selection of assistant students of Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM)
Position: Assistant student of PAM (3 students)
Duration period: From 27-July to 30-September, 2022
Reports to: Wildlife biologist
Location: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
Job Summary:
The purpose of the PAM project is to monitor changes in poaching pressure in the South Gobi of Mongolia using passive acoustic devices. These devices are able to record sound continuously and sound data is analyzed using sound specific algorithms to identify potential events that are later verified through re-listening to the sounds. Assistant students of PAM will support to the sound data analysis, such as gunshots, motor vehicles and livestock sound detection analyses.
Responsibilities:
- Support data organization and preparation for the sound data analyses.
- Assist in gunshot, vehicle and livestock sound detection analyses.
- Analyze images from the camera traps.
- Prepare report as required by the project.
Requirements:
- Students study in environmental or sound engineering.
- Ability to the technical and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other data.
- Aptitude for high quality work, attention to detail, good communication and team work.
